SA: Peugeot committed to Australian market

Officials say Peugeot remains committed to growing vehicle sales in Australia and New
Zealand following the shift to a new distributor.

Last week Inchcape Motors Australia announced it would hand over the Peugeot franchise
to the Malaysian-based Sime Darby Group later this year.

Peugeot Australia general manager CHRIS DOWNIE says while the date for the handover
hasn't been determined the future of the French car brand in Australia is secure.

He says the new distribution arrangements will create some exciting opportunities both
locally and on a global scale.

And Sime Darby motor group director JOHN BELL says the company's totally committed
to Australia and New Zealand and the growth of the Peugeot marque within the two countries.
